The S124 estate joined the 124 Series in 1985, continuing Mercedes-Benz's T-Modell tradition with a spacious wagon designed to offer passenger-car comfort together with genuine load-carrying capability. The 300 D version used Mercedes-Benz's 3. 0-litre six-cylinder diesel, and the S124 300 TD/300 D diesel variant became known for the durability and long-distance capability associated with Mercedes diesels of this era.
The 1990 car represents the 124 Series before Mercedes-Benz formally adopted the E-Class name in 1993. Therefore, while this car belongs to the direct lineage of the E-Class Estate, “300 D T-Modell (S124)” is the historically correct designation for a 1990 example.
