Unveiled in New York in 1954, the 300 SL was developed from Mercedes-Benz’s successful W194 racing car. Its revolutionary tubular spaceframe led to the famous roof-hinged Gullwing doors, while its 3. 0-litre fuel-injected six-cylinder engine produced 215 hp and enabled speeds of up to 250 km/h. Only 1, 400 Gullwing Coupés were produced between 1954 and 1957.
